Our Purpose
On March 17, 2020, Sitka Conservation Society (SCS) launched the Sitka Mutual Aid Network, an initiative intended to build community resilience, fight food insecurity and strengthen our connections to one another in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. While all of us have been affected by this public health crisis in one way or another, we know many people have been and continue to be disproportionately impacted by the virus and the measures required to slow its spread. Sitka Mutual Aid is one way to show solidarity and practice community care in the face of these diverse experiences.
Sitka Mutual Aid primarily serve people experiencing food insecurity, those with financial need, people in quarantine, people in self-isolation, and people at high-risk for COVID-19.
Impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic?
Your community is here for you! The Sitka Mutual Aid Network is currently providing the following services:
USDA Farmers to Families Food Box Deliveries
The USDA Farmers to Families program is a national COVID-19 relief effort meant to prevent hunger and benefit agricultural food producers. Sitka Mutual Aid is offering weekly home delivery of the food boxes to people experiencing food insecurity who do not have access to food boxes through another agency. Participants can choose how often they receive deliveries.

Enrollment in ALFA's Seafood Donation Program
Sitka Mutual Aid is enrolling households in the Alaska Longline Fishermen's Association's Seafood Donation Program. Households are contacted on a rolling basis to receive frozen local seafood at no cost.

Donate to Sitka Mutual Aid! We use community contributions to provide direct assistance to food insecure households in Sitka. Checks can also be accepted at Sitka Conservation Society, attention: Sitka Mutual Aid, 201 Lincoln Street Room 4, Sitka, AK 99835.
